Picking a vendor to assist in the adoption of an EMR “extender” initiative will be simple in the near term due to the
patent ownership of waveform presentations needed for success. San Antonio, TX-based AirStripTM is the sole firm
holding a patent on the presentation and delivery of graphical, waveform and consolidated views. Furthermore,
AirStripTM has a heritage of simplifying complex presentation views with its OB, Cardiology and remote offerings.
AirStripTM purchased the EMR “extender” intellectual property from Palomar Hospital and has recently released Airstrip
ONETM, a tool bridging cross-hospital views and enabling PCP/specialist collaboration. AirStrip ONETM is currently being
piloted at Dignity Health for an enterprise-wide deployment and anticipates 3Q13 live dates for most modalities
consolidating relevant Cerner EHR, Allscripts EMR and other medical device data. We believe that AirStripTM is wellpositioned
as the defacto EMR “extender” vendor and is differentiated from hundreds of handheld application vendors
because they are well financed, native-based and have enterprise-wide expertise. We believe that “extender” projects
common to that of AirStripTM will usher an era of partnership and EMR / EHR vendor collaborations.
Before purchasing a mobile health solution, a clear charter must be created delineating what is to be accomplished. To
increase the probability of success, we believe that mobile physician access projects should cut their teeth in the chronic
areas (e.g., OB, ICU or Cardiology) before full EMR deployment to gain acceptance and to vet waveform and physician
workflow needs. Furthermore, early implementation best practices phase 6-9 month implementations as follows: First,
define the business and clinical use cases. Then, operationalize the solution design by using physician use cases. Once
the use cases are defined and designed, mobile technology can be introduced to enable the use cases. The mobile
device vendor is responsible for developing adapters to different systems, creating to/from user interface flows, natively
presenting data at the device, and enabling the clinical macro workflow of all stakeholders. Early pilots observe that
physicians always carry a phone, not tablets, but a shrunken phone browser will not be accepted by physicians.

CardioNet, Inc. and AirStrip Partner to Expand Mobile Patient Monitoring Integrated Mobility Solution Enables Health Systems to Improve Delivery of Cardiac Care
CONSHOHOCKEN, PA AND SAN ANTONIO, TX – February 13, 2013 – As health systems are under increasing pressure to share data across systems to improve and expand their networks of care, CardioNet, Inc. and AirStrip have entered into a partnership agreement to develop and co-market an integrated solution for mobile patient monitoring.
The AirStripTM mobility solution will deliver live patient data from CardioNet’s Mobile Cardiac Outpatient TelemetryTM (MCOTTM) directly to clinicians’ mobile devices, including tablets and phones. This integrated solution will enable health systems to combine critical cardiac data with EMR and device information to improve patient monitoring and clinician decision-making at the point of care.
